Hi!

Welcome to DIY Darling! I'm a twenty-something figuring out how to design my dream life on a dime. Let's take this journey together!

Saturday Share: A page-turner book, a podcast that made me want to buy Hermès, a summer recipe & more

Hello Darlings! I had a busy week with book club, birthday drinks for friends, and family time with my SIL and niece in town. Happy to have a weekend ahead filled with some down time with the hubs, an outing to one of our favorite breweries and mayyyybe a little yardwork.

This week for my Saturday Share, I have a Kristin Hannah book that I couldn’t put down, a delicious recipe that tastes like summer, a podcast that made me want to shell out thousands for Hermès, and more!

Book cover of the Women by Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. She always chooses the most compelling topics and writes beautiful historical fiction stories that tug on your heart strings and make you root for the characters. Also, they tend to feature complex female leads, which I am always in support of. The Women follows the journey of a combat nurse during the Vietnam War, as well as her life when she returns stateside. A fascinating look into what life was like back then - I couldn’t put this book down!

Featuring a tomato peach burrata recipe from Half-Baked Harvet

I confess - I’ve made this about four times since I discovered it a few weeks ago. It’s just so darn refreshing! Not to mention the perfect summer salad or appetizer. Get those ingredients while they are still in-season and you will gobble this right up. From the ever-amazing (and fellow Coloradoan) Half-Baked Harvest, I absolutely loved this recipe.

Sharing the television show Love Island USA on Peacock

Ohhhhh my lord, this show has had an absolute chokehold on me over the last few weeks. I’m slightly late to the season, so I was able to binge every single episode on Peacock. The cast was so fun to watch and I was so invested in each of their journeys. I cannot wait for the reunion later in August!

An image of the podcast Acquired, featuring Hermès

While Acquired may be in their 14 season, I am just now discovering it. Basically, each month they do a deep dive into a company and present an entertaining, extremely well-researched discussion into the company’s past, present, and future. I was completely hooked on the story of Hermès but now I have a problem… all I want in life is an Hermès scarf (because I know that a Kelly or Birkin bag is out of reach for me!)

An image of the product megababe thigh rescue anti-friction stick

There is nothing worse than chafing thighs during the hot summer months. And I’ve finally found a product that works incredibly well at eliminating that problem! The Thigh-Rescue stick by Megababe is easy to apply, has a subtle clean-smelling scent, and completely prevents chafing. Perfect for when I’m wearing shorts, skirts, or dresses! (Immediately add this one to your cart!)
