Hi!

Welcome to DIY Darling! I'm a twenty-something figuring out how to design my dream life on a dime. Let's take this journey together!

Happy Saturday Darlings! The air is starting to cool down and get crisp on my morning walks with Walker and today I had my first-of-the-season Pumpkin Spice Latte. Autumn is my favorite time of the year and I’m trying to soak up each and every moment. This weekend, I’m going on a date with my husband to a Harvest Market festival, and then a hike through the new fall foliage in the mountains with a friend. I love filling up my free time with fun things to look forward to!

For my Saturday Share this week, I have a product that I’ve just started using that is helping me sleep through the night, a single from two of my favorite artists, a book that really emotionally impacted me, a new Netflix show to binge immediately, and an easy beginning-of-fall recipe. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

sharing my new favorite book Tom Lake by Ann Patchett

What a beautifully written book. I read this for my book club and I have to say, this may be in my top five favorite books of all time. It explores the themes of the passage of time and the various stages of your life, and how at the end of everything, things work out the way they are meant to. I loved the way the author wrote in different POVs (which took a moment to adjust to but once I did I was so enveloped in the story). I highly recommend this book!

A new show on Netflix that I binged, The Perfect Couple

*Cue the Meghan Trainor song "Criminals” aka the theme song for the opening credits. Have you binged The Perfect Couple on Netflix yet?? I absolutely loved it - and truly did not see the ending coming! Based on a book by one of my favorite beach read authors, Elin Hilderbrand, this show features a stellar cast and follows a whodunnit murder mystery in Nantucket. Clear your schedule and watch this show today!

If you’ve never eaten roasted delicata squash, add it to your grocery list. It’s the most delicious fall vegetable. I like it by itself or mixed in with a kale salad. And it’s extremely easy to make! All you do it slice up the squash, drizzle with a bit of olive oil, salt & pepper, and roast in the oven. You even eat it with the skin on (trust me)! I’ll be keeping this veggie in constant rotation all autumn long.

Who among us wouldn’t like a way to sleep deeper and through the night? I’ve been reading about the benefits of magnesium to help you sleep, and then this magnesium oil spray was recommended to me. After only a few nights of use, I’m noticing a massive difference in my quality of sleep. Just spray it on your feet before bed and you’ll wake up feeling more rested!

If you need a new song to play on repeat, check out Mt Joy’s latest version of their popular song, Highway Queen, featuring Maren Morris. Two of my favorite artists in one song?? An immediate ‘yes’ for me! We’ve seen Mt. Joy twice at Red Rocks and both times have been rewarded with a magical night. They are so good live! I missed Maren Morris the last time she toured through Colorado, but I have my eyes peeled for tickets for the future. I’d love to see her live!
