What I've been up to, part one
Hey. It’s been a while. Life has swept me up in a whole lot of exciting endeavors and I’ve fallen behind on writing blog posts. Which is ironic, because it’s this blog that has led to the opportunities that have taken my time away. But to be honest, I’ve missed writing here and sharing my projects. I’d like to get the habit going again and start contributing regularly. So I thought I’d give an update on what I’ve been up to and catch you up to speed.
So here goes: Part One - Freelance Writing for Insider Reviews
The senior home editor from Insider Reviews reached out to me in February of this year, asking if I would be interested in working as a freelance writer for them. My focus would be on reviewing home decor and DIY-related products. It felt like such a perfect fit and I immediately said yes!
Basically, I pitch stories to my editor with products I think would be interesting to review and if the pitch gets accepted, the product gets sent to me, I use it, photograph it, and write up an article. Occasionally, I’ll get asked to write a “round-up” for Insider, which is more research-based. I’ve been loving honing my writing skills and getting to do projects around the house as my job!
So far, here are links to articles I’ve written:
I think my favorite project to-date was the Chasing Paper review. I specifically was interested in reviewing Max Humphrey’s collaboration with Chasing Paper. His Americana-inspired wallpaper was intriguing to me and inspired the entire design of our bedroom. I loved installing it, photographing it, and writing about it. Win/win/win.
I’m excited to see what reviews come my way in the future! And look for What I’ve been up to, part two for another exciting update on the goings-on of my life!
